It’s not a myth, internet or reality. Have you never seen the game play that the creators showed? It was all over Youtube and Google for quite some time a year or so ago. Haven’t really checked into it to see whether or not the videos still exist, but I’m sure if you looked they probably do.

IMO, the most attractive aspect of Spore is the ability to create new forms of “life,” however computer-based they may be. And to be able to evolve a new organism however you like! It’s such a profound game style/play. Who in their right mind wouldn”t want to play God from the onset of planetary life?!

this game took too long i’m over it. it still has a decent idea with the creation and the almost infinite planets and all the user content creating other peoples universes.. but jesus christ it is just dated.. if it was going to impress me it would have had to have been out last year.
look at the ground textures! big green and brown blurryness is not up to snuff anymore.. they should overhaul the gpx all over again and do it fast and get the damn thing on shelves.

The textures are all procedural, as such, there are no “textures” at least not stored as image files. It’ll be fabulous. If you liked “the Sims” you’ll love this. If you didn’t, you wont. Given that the Sims is the world’s best selling , (and hence most popular) game, I’m sure a lot of people will love it.
Having suffered through any number of bugged bits of crap, HL2 anyone? I’ll take “when it’s done” as a good thing. But I draw the line at Duke Nukem

The sims was the world’s best selling PC game. Not best selling game of all time. I think that was pokemon red and blue.

Those actually look like they may run on my computer, hooray! I was going to buy an entirely new system for when the game comes out in 2nd Quarter ’08 but perhaps I may not need to!
And I think it’s a separate engine, it’s not using the Sims engine – I’d assumed they had build something entirely new since it will be able to effortlessly contact and exchange data with the main Spore server so that you can play other peoples worlds and interact with their creatures. I’m very stoked about the game.

I am still disappointed in the decision not to have real time interactive online playing. An open sandbox style of play would have made this awesome.

No, considering that you can blow up people’s planets, real-time online would’ve been rubbish. It would take griefing to a whole new level.
Anyways, I’m just pissed because you know that half the creatures made will be shoddy ripoffs of commercial creatures. How many Pokémon are we going to see? I’m going to institute a “blow up on sight” policy with non-original species.

WOW those screens are awesme and WTF 2.10 years u call that long god so what. i have followed it from when they annoucned it and dude… it wasnt announced in 2000 god your a dumb ass and the cartoonyness makes it fun none of its supossed t be a frigin real life.
1.do you realy think evolution takes a few hours…
2.evolution doesnt make addtitions that arnt helpful to the creature

1. u an edit almost everything
2.the new cell phase looks WAY cooler the old one was something a amutuer flash game maker could make there was almost no editing involved with it the interface looked shit aswell
3.the new interface is awesome
4.you can get a fricken posse thats awesome
5 graphics better compare the old battlefish to the new one the second one is much better
6. there taking loger t make the game better why dont you try making a game like spore? bet you cant!
7. in the last 6 months this game has got better not worse the old tide pool phase was GAY i have seen a game maker game that is better
